Committee convenes for its first meeting, broader engagement starts in May
The Suffolk 2045 Steering Committee met on March 22 to share ideas for the future and outline opportunities for the comprehensive plan. Participants discussed topics including traffic, connectivity of neighborhoods, housing, education and more. A key focus was how the City can develop a long-term plan that will maintain Suffolk’s quality of life while allowing for growth.
“Everyone who cares about the future of Suffolk is invited to share their vision. We’re hoping that the process helps us think about what we have in common and connects people across the City,” said Steering Committee Vice-Chair and Planning Commission Member, Anita Hicks.
Next steps in the planning process include a series of topical focus groups convened in mid-May. Online activities along with additional in-person engagement at public events are planned for the summer to provide residents with an opportunity to share their thoughts about the City.
