The Suffolk 2045 Comprehensive Plan was adopted by City Council on December 18, 2024. Suffolk 2045 replaces Suffolk 2035: a Vision for the Future which was adopted by City Council in April 2015. A comprehensive plan is a long-range guide that reflects the values and goals of the local community. It is a broad public policy document that guides the future physical development of the locality considering the input of residents, businesses and other stakeholders. Suffolk 2045 continues the focused growth strategy adopted in earlier comprehensive plans by directing growth to designated areas and coordinating growth with investments in infrastructure and municipal services.
The Suffolk 2045 project website will remain active for the next few months while the City transitions to the updated plan and begins the process of implementing the plan’s recommendations.
